Dubai, UAE, 11 December, 2008: Canon Middle East has announced a new entry-level Inkjet photo printer to its PIXMA line-up, offering class-leading quality and intuitive software to users on a budget.

High quality, low price
The stylish new PIXMA iP1900 replaces the existing iP1800 and offers exceptional improvements in both speed and quality over its predecessor. It incorporates Canon's FINE Cartridge technology, utilising one black pigment ink cartridge for superior text printing and one CMY dye-based ink cartridge to deliver photolab-quality prints.

The 4-colour ink system offers a print resolution of 4800x1200dpi, and combined with an ink droplet size of just 2pl - the smallest of any comparably priced photo printer - photos are both smooth and free from visible grain. The PIXMA iP1900 uses Canon's ChromaLife100 system for long-lasting, beautiful prints and is also compatible with Canon's new Photo Paper Pro II (PR-201) photo paper.

Improvements in speed have also taken place, with the iP1900 capable of achieving borderless 10x15cm photolab-quality prints in approximately 55 seconds.

Intuitive imaging software
It's now easier to get great results from your photos, every time, with the enhanced Easy-PhotoPrint EX software bundled with the PIXMA iP1900. Updated for the new range of PIXMA printers, Easy-PhotoPrint EX now includes Auto Photo Fix to optimise your images with features such as automatic red-eye removal and scene analysis.

The PIXMA iP1900 is bundled with the following software: 

  • Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX - fully integrated user-friendly software for photo printing and creative projects, such as calendars or photo albums. As well as assisting with options such as paper type selection and size, Easy-PhotoPrint EX includes the new Auto Photo Fix, which analyses your photo and automatically adopts the optimal correction based on whether it's a portrait or scene. Auto Photo Fix is an updated version of Auto Image Fix that also features automatic red-eye reduction with improved accuracy in detection.

Compatibility

Canon's PIXMA iP1900 is compatible with Windows Vista (32bit, 64bit), Windows XP (SP2), Windows 2000 Professional (SP4) and Mac OS X 10.3.9 to 10.5.

Technologies Explained

FINE

Canon's patented FINE semi-conductor manufacturing technique lies at the heart of its printer technology, creating print heads with exceptionally high nozzle count and density. This enables Canon printers to achieve market-leading print speeds and virtually grain-free, photolab-quality photo prints even in Standard mode.

FINE Cartridges

Two cartridges (BK and CMY) offer 4-colour inks.

The Black is pigment ink for better quality text printing, while the colour CMY are dye-based inks which enable more glossy photo printing.

PR-201 photo paper

Canon has added to its range of genuine photo papers and now brings improved quality at lower price points. At 245 g/m2 Photo Paper Pro II PR-201 will replace the current PR-101. It is available in A4 and 10x15cm sizes, and for larger size printers, in A3 and A3+ sizes.

Environmental features

Canon is committed to offering products with a reduced environmental impact, and its new PIXMA range upholds this through improvements in resource efficiency and design. Depending on the model, features like auto duplex and 2-in1/4-in-1 printing encourage paper-saving. The physical size of the product has been reduced by between TBC%, with packaging reduced by almost TBC%.
