With online markets burgeoning and a wave of entrepreneurship sweeping across the region, ArabNet is excited to expand their network of events to include local conferences in a number of the region's leading markets, Egypt being the first. ArabNet Cairo Conference 2011 will be held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohamad Salem, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, and in collaboration with The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).
Omar Christidis, Founder of ArabNet, emphasized that the choice of Egypt as the location for the upcoming ArabNet conference is attributed to the enormous size of the Egyptian market, one of the largest markets in the region, with 25 million Egyptian Internet subscribers, the highest number of Internet users in the Arab World, as well as almost 75 million Egyptian mobile subscribers, and 8.5 million on Facebook. "The ArabNet Cairo conference will bring together all those involved in the sector in Egypt, presenting the most effective access point to the market," added Christidis.
The ArabNet Cairo Conference 2011 will feature talks by more than 40 leading figures in the digital industry, some of whom will be speaking in the Middle East for the first time ever. Cutting-edge discussion panels and specialized workshops will explore the hottest topics in the field, including social commerce and loyalty, location-based services, e-commerce, social media, mobile apps, digital marketing, gaming and more.
Over 600 leading digital executives, global players, entrepreneurs, developers, investors and media are expected to be at the event. "The conference presents a unique chance for Egyptian entrepreneurs to connect with global leaders and investors, creating new work opportunities and boosting the economy", Christidis said.
The conference program will also feature the Ideathon and Startup Demo competitions. These pitch sessions offer a unique opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their digital ideas or startups before the conference's high-profile audience, giving them the chance to get the funding and mentorship they need to succeed. ArabNet received over 200 applications for the Cairo conference Ideathon and Startup Demo- the top 10% of these ideas and startups will be announced soon, and invited to present at the conference.
