Roads & Transport Authority - Mohammed Al Munji: H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has opened RTA Directors/Managers' Individual Performance Enhancement Training Program; which aims at qualifying and training RTA management leaders, enriching them with the required skills and knowledge and empowering them to bear the roles and responsibilities associated with higher job grades.

The Program, which lasts through June 2011, aims at qualifying 140 RTA directors and managers through subjecting them to 16 different types of courses and programs supervised by a panel of experts hand-picked to deliver this Program.

Addressing the inaugural session of the Program held in RTA Conference Hall in the presence of several RTA CEOs and Directors, Al Tayer said: "RTA is not all about constructing roads & bridges and undertaking various transport projects as well as intelligent traffic systems but also seeks to qualify the human resources to assume leadership responsibilities. This Program billed as "Plans of Upgrading the Individual Performance of Directors/Managers" supplements the Qiyadi Program launched by the RTA to uplift the caliber of RTA Emirati leaders.

"These training programs come in the context of RTA's efforts to be the first career option for qualified human resources through leveraging its competitive edge in attracting highly competent professionals. It also aims at building a comprehensive employee motivational & retention scheme besides caring for developing & honing the scientific & practical skills of employees. RTA is keen on nurturing an environment conducive to career development, opening opportunities for young Emirati competent personnel to take up key positions and contribute to the realization of RTA's ambitious vision and strategic objectives.

"Working in the government sector requires us to put more efforts to improve the production, cooperate, and enhance the teamwork spirit to overcome all challenges faced in the course of fulfilling RT objectives. There is an urgent need of changing the culture of work, focusing on training & qualification, and embracing scientific approaches and means of advancement. In order for this change to be effective, it has to come from within the employees themselves," added Al Tayer.

For her part, Kawthar Kazim, Director of Human Resources and Development, said: "RTA has always sought to ensure the continued improvement of employees' competencies and qualifications through planning, conducting researches and benchmark studies to commensurate with the latest policies and global systems in this field so as to enable them accomplish their tasks in a highly effective & competent manner. RTA is keen on attracting the best talents, developing the human resources, motivating employees to come up & implement creative and innovative ideas, and contributing to the submission of proposals relating to the development of objectives and improvement of service levels."

Noteworthy that RTA, in collaboration with Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development, launched in October 2009, the Qiyadi Program, which aims at grooming and qualifying 40 Emirati Directors/Managers hailing from different RTA Sectors and Agencies with the aim of ushering in a structured knowledge transition in the strategic thinking of RTA's competent Emirati leaders.
