KUWAIT CITY - The implementation of the early inquiry system at Kuwait International Airport entails additional fees for travelers, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources. Sources explained the additional fees will be included in the ticket prices and then the airlines will handover the corresponding fees to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) based on a mechanism that will be determine later.
Sources revealed the additional fees range from $3.5 to S4; indicating the DGCA is waiting for the approval of regulatory authorities to sign a contract for the implementation of the system, through which travelers can register with an airline company for a period of seven years.
Sources gave a breakdown of the fees as follows: airport services fee of $0.80 for each passenger departing from Kuwait International Airport — $0.48 of which is for the company and $0.32 for the directorate; and border services fee of KD1 or its equivalent in US dollars — 550 fils of which is for the company (for the first eight million passengers annually) and 450 fils for the DGCA.
