The unemployment rate among Egyptian females decreased by 5.5 percentage points, hitting 19.3% in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2022, compared to 24.8% in the Q4 2014, Egyptian cabinet media center said in a report on March 8th to celebrate the International Women's Day.

The report added that women who have financial accounts reached 17.2 million women in June 2022, compared to 5.9 million women in June 2016, marking an increase of 191.5%.

This indicates that Egypt is the first country in Africa and the Middle East that launches the Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator action plan with the aim of eliminating gender inequality in 2021.

Egypt advanced 6 places in the gender equality index in educational attainment, issued by the World Economic Forum, as it ranked 103rd in 2022, compared to 109th in 2014.

As for the health sector, the report stated that 33.8 million women have been examined through the presidential initiative to support the health of Egyptian women so far.
