AMMAN — Cash subsidies provided to public transport vehicle operators will be subjected to periodic evaluations to ensure their compatibility with the prices of fuel derivatives and to spare transport systems from the repercussions of global fuel price increases, Director-General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) Tariq Habashneh said on Monday.

The commission will provide transport vehicles with support on a quarterly basis as of the coming January, Habashneh said, stressing that cash support for December will be contained within the previous support package and will be provided after operators complete licensing procedures.

The subsidy will range between JD100 and JD475 a month, depending on the size of the vehicle and the route’s distance, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
