DOHA: Qtel yesterday announced that it has brought in a full set of the new "Nano SIMs" to Qatar, in preparation for the much-anticipated launch of new smartphones in September.
Nano SIMs are the smallest-ever SIM cards, designed to contain the full range of mobile information in a card that is less than half the size of a standard SIM. The communications industry anticipates that the next generation of smartphones - including the new range of iPhones - will require customers to upgrade to Nano-SIMs.
SIM cards contain all the information required to identify a customer on any mobile device, and are increasingly a core part of many people's electronic identity.
Qtel continues to be the pioneer in providing the next generation of SIM cards, and offering the facilities to make it as easy and convenient as possible for customers to switch. Customers can now select micro-SIMs or standard SIMs whenever they open a new mobile account with Qtel.
Building on this policy, customers will be able to visit Qtel Shops across the country and swap their SIM cards for the new nano version, as and when devices requiring them become available.
As well as a full range of SIM cards, Qtel continues to offer more choice and great value with a full range of Shahry Packs and Mobile Internet options.
