Abu Dhabi: Qatar Entertainment City, Abu Dhabi Investment House's unique mega mixed-use development in Qatar, has signed a development agreement with United Real Estate Company, Kuwait, to develop the first of five districts in Qatar Entertainment City.

The $3 billion development, also commercially known as Tarfeeh City, covers one million square metres of land, including one kilometre of prime beach-front, and is the anchor development for Lusail, the 35 square kilometre northern expansion of the Qatari capital, Doha.

The deal between Qatar Entertainment City and United Real Estate Company will see the development of the southern section of city, known as South Shore. The site, which covers 75,500 square metres, is valued at 955 million riyals.

"This agreement with United Real Estate Company will ensure that the homes and amenities within South Shore at Qatar Entertainment City are developed to the very highest standards. This commitment to quality is essential to our vision of creating a world-leading family entertainment destination, and accelerating Qatar's growth as a tourism and leisure destination," said Rashad Y Janahi, board member and managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment House and chairman of Qatar Entertainment City

Focus on family

The South Shore district will feature a resort-style blend of villas, apartments and beach hotels set in a waterfront living environment surrounded by retail, leisure and entertainment destinations.

"South Shore is being created with a real focus on the family and community aspects of life, and will play an integral role in ensuring Qatar Entertainment City provides the optimum mix of world-class entertainment, leisure, retail and residential amenities," said Yousef Ali Darwish, general manager, Qatar Entertainment City

Each of the five districts of the development will be linked by a canal, with water taxis and air-conditioned tracks meandering through luxury villas, sea view apartments, five star hotels, boardwalks, beaches, restaurants, cafes, shops and world-class entertainment zones.
