Ryosuke Watanabe, Director International Sales Division from Sakai, Japan, addressed the audience and briefed them on the profile of Sakai.

Sakai was founded in Japan in May 1918 for the manufacture of diesel locomotives and their engines.

Overcoming the upheaval of the 2nd World War, the former president Tomoyoshi Sakai (1923-1995) established Sakai Engineering Works (the predecessor to Sakai Heavy Industries) in 1949. To contribute to
national (infrastructure) development SAKAI launched into the full-scale production and sale of road rollers.

Since that time the company has evolved and grown to an annual production of over 4,000 vibratory compactors per year, the largest production volume for these products.

Sakai Heavy Industries, a forerunner in the road compaction equipment industry, has developed a wide range of technologies from the vertical vibratory system to produce the thick layer in the compaction of roadbed foundations and improving the finished surface (especially the surface evenness), to the development of the horizontal vibratory system to reduce the effect of vibration on the environs.
