Dubai, Nov 21st, 2011 (WAM) -- Airworthiness Department of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) had useful discussion in aeronautical product certification with Austro Control (Austrian Civil Aviation Authority) to share and learn from each others knowledge and experience in the field.

A delegation headed by Ahmed Salem Al Rawahi, Director of Airworthiness Department, visited Austro Control from 9 -11 November 2011, mainly concentrated on certification of production organisations and included observance of an Austro Control audit of a production organisation by the GCAA team. The audit was conducted on FACC which is working in close collaboration with Strata Mubadala manufacturing company.

The GCAA team made an impressive presentation to a senior team of technical specialists from Austro Control and a presentation was also made by Austro Control in reciprocation.

The discussions in addition to production organization certification included possibility of MoU for mutual technical assistance. The other topics of discussion included, training of GCAA Airworthiness Inspectors, issue of UAE Airworthiness Directive, Fines and Penalties Regulations, audit planning for Production and Design Organizations. The regulatory structure of Austro Control also came under discussion.

Austria is a small landlocked country in Europe which is strikingly similar to UAE in terms of land size and population. The other passion mutually shared by two countries is the progress of the aviation sector especially in the field of design and production of aeronautical products.

The cooperation is likely to benefit both the countries but more so for the GCAA, who is just entered into area of Certification of Parts and Products by introducing new regulations with a resolve to outshine others and become a leading regulators of the world.
