Tunisia - Tunisia's purchases of Algerian gas went up 4% until the end of November 2022, compared to the same period of 2021, to 2178 kilotons of oil equivalent (Ktep), says the monthly report "The Energy Situation", published by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy (National Observatory of Energy and Mines) Tuesday.

This is due to the drop in production, explains the observatory in this report covering November 2022. Domestic natural gas supply recorded a slight drop of 2% compared to November 2021, to 4539 Ktoe.

Total natural gas demand fell by 2% between the end of November 2021 and the end of November 2022 to 4527 ktoe.

For final uses (excluding electricity production), natural gas demand increased by 12% to 1314 ktoe.

According to the report, the power generation sector remains by far the largest consumer of natural gas, with 71% of total demand at the end of November 2022. Electricity generation is indeed based on natural gas for more than 97%.

As regards natural gas resources (domestic production + fiscal package), they reached 2633 ktoe at the end of November 2022, a slight fall of 1% compared to the same period of the previous year. The production of dry commercial gas, in fact, decreased by 5% against an increase in the royalty on the transit of Algerian gas by 7%.
