MUSCAT: Expanding on its top of the range safety and security product portfolio in Oman, Amanco (National Factory for Security and Safety Equipment) has earned sole representative status to introduce Sergi-France's transformer protector (TP) in the Sultanate.
Amanco has been operational since 1998 and enjoys the reputation of being the only company in Oman manufacturing firefighting equipments under all relevant licence categories.
Over the years, the company has supplied to almost all major players in the country who required firefighting equipment.
"Transformer protector is a product that addresses the need of the hour in firefighting technology. The quality and innovative technology that drives this product make it inevitable in this market," said Salman Rashid Al Fennah Al Araimi, chairman of Amanco.
Transformer protector is a unique technology to prevent transformers from exploding; the TP actually positions itself as an international standard to avoid transformer explosions and fires.
During a transformer short-circuit, the TP is activated within milliseconds by the first dynamic pressure peak of the shock wave, avoiding transformer explosions before static pressure increases.
The TP prevents from the transformer explosion, channelises the explosive gases far away thus eliminating risk to human life and prevents environmental pollution.
The TP has proven its efficiency by successfully passing several tests conducted by Électricité de France (EDF) and CEPEL. EDF high-voltage laboratory performed 28 tests and CEPEL independent high-voltage laboratory in Brazil performed 34 tests on three large transformers.
"It is a privilege that Amanco has been chosen to introduce this technology in Oman. Sergi-France has always provided us with top quality products which we have been privileged to bring to the market here," said G. Murali Das, general manager of Amanco.
"We rarely find companies working together with sincere consideration for each other's needs. I believe that, this is what the winning equation for Sergi-France and Amanco has been," Das added.
The unique mechanism of the TP has now been well acknowledged by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) as a fast depressurisation system -- a passive mechanical system designed to depressurise the transformer a few milliseconds after the occurrence of an electrical fault.
Customer Satisfaction Year
Owing to the constant intensive research programmes and TP successes, it is now recommended by NFPA for all power plants and substations in Civil Codes 2010 editions of NFPA 850 and NFPA 851.
This partnership has been announced in line with the arrival of Arnaud Magnier, CEO of Sergi- France in Muscat to participate in the international workshop on fire safety engineering and management organised by Sultan Qaboos University.
The chairman adds: "We have strengthened our top management team by positioning experienced professionals with varied skill sets and exposure in different markets on board. We have declared 2011 as Customer Satisfaction Year to be more pro-active in addressing our customers' needs and issues."
The product is set to face the home-run challenges that are typical for any new item in the market, but Amanco is equipped to move ahead through the challenges by ensuring zero compromise on the quality of the product which in turn assures people and environment safety.
