RIYADH: Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry employment head Khaled Shalil laid out a plan on Tuesday to make families engaged in small-scale businesses become more productive in five years.

"As a first step, 800 young entrepreneurs will attend a monthly meeting on commercial information dissemination and accounting files," he said during a meeting.

He added that the young entrepreneurs will share their experiences for evaluation by a panel which includes marketing consultants, legal adviser on commercial projects, and an expert on feasibility studies.

The first training session titled "How to shop for your own business," was held on Tuesday and organized by the Commission for Social Development in a neighborhood kindergarten.

Shalil said that concerned authorities will facilitate the procedures for obtaining business records for productive families and do away with the intricacies of obtaining routine licenses.

"Some 800 young entrepreneurs would set up shops and import lighting items from China," said Shalil, who's also a member of the Riyadh Chamber's training and human resources committees and an investment specialist.

He added that the young entrepreneurs will also travel to other countries as part of the plan to expose them to the international market and establish foreign business contacts.

"Among other things, they will learn about leadership on investment generation, which is being adopted in many business ventures," he said.

In Dubai, they will participate in international exhibitions which are an important part of the plan.

They'll also participate in trade exhibitions in Turkey as part of their exposure to the international market, and meet local and foreign counterparts.

"Some 500 young entrepreneurs will also participate in an exhibition to be participated in by Chinese and Jordanian entrepreneurs," he said.
