The traditional 9-5 workplace will soon be a memory of the past. According to a study, 40% of the U.S. workforce will be freelancers by 2020. Instead of hiring full-time employees, organizations are becoming more and more dependent on outsourced transient talent. This evolving workplace, with contributors from all over the world, introduces new challenges for traditional organizations. IT Departments need to provide business users with tools that enable them to easily share information and meet and collaborate online - across organizational boundaries. Perhaps more important, new behavior needs to be developed by employees within companies who want to thrive in this new economy. As with any change of human behavior, encouraging employees to adapt to a new work style is a huge challenge for many organizations.

Ulrika Hedlund, ex-Microsoft employee and founder of Dubai-based Business Productivity FZ LLC, knows all about these challenges. "Many organizations here in the Middle East are set in the old ways of doing things. Instead of embracing the benefits of new technology, they prefer to do things the way they have always done."

During the past decade, productivity software, such as Microsoft Office, has gone through a major transformation. From being primarily focused on personal productivity, today's tools mainly revolve around collaboration and information sharing. As the tools change, the skills required and behavior of employees must follow suit.

Ulrika continues, "Knowledge workers here in the Middle East are often reluctant to share information. They believe they will be more powerful if they keep knowledge to themselves. This culture of silos needs to change. In the modern workplace, those who successfully share their knowledge are the ones with the most power."

Organizations need to embrace new technology and introduce new working practices; in order to help drive this change, Innoverto, a UAE based Corporate Training company and Business Productivity have partnered to deliver a brand new course, "The Office 365 Modern Workplace - Lead the transformation of your organization leveraging Office 365".

Marie-Louise Adlercreutz, Managing Director of Innoverto explains, "During the 2-day course, delegates will get a thorough understanding of the current trends that are changing the new world of work. Participants will also get the opportunity to experience hands on how innovative technology is enabling the modern workplace".
