Dubai, UAE: As the UAE celebrates the Emirati Women’s Day today (Aug 28, Saturday) Emirati women leaders, representing key business sectors in the country, have underlined their commitment to nation-building and saluted the leadership for the focus on empowering women.

This year, the Emirati Women’s Day is celebrated under the theme, ‘Women: Ambitions & Inspiration for the Next 50 Years’. The Emirati women leaders are unanimous in their view that ‘ambition’ has always been central in defining the women in the country. They said that with the committed efforts of the leadership to drive women participation in all sectors, Emirati women have made significant contributions to nation-building, more so, following the pandemic.

His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC

“The UAE is one of the leading nations in the MENA at achieving and promoting gender equality, with women playing a vital role in building the community, economy and future of our county. As we mark the Emirati Women’s Day, we thank our visionary leaders for empowering women and strengthening their participation in all the sectors. Today we celebrate each Emirati woman and salute their contribution to families, the community and the nation.”

Dr. Ayesha Mohamed, Vice President of Research and Development, Omics Centre of Excellence and Biobank, G42 Healthcare

“I know that every Emirati woman is proud to be born in this time where she can actively contribute to the unprecedented evolution our country is embarking on. 50 years have passed so quickly and Emirati women impact on our country’s development is remarkable which was only possible thanks to the support of our leadership. Personally, I feel privileged to be part of one of the breakthrough national initiatives, Emirati Genome, which is uniquely positioned to revolutionize healthcare in the UAE and beyond using state of the art AI technology. As an Emirati woman and scientist, I’m ambitious, determined and inspired to carry on with my passion for my country and work. Also, I hope to inspire young Emiratis, especially women, to pursue their passions, particularly those interested in careers in science.”

Dr. Dalya Al Muthanna, President of GE UAE and Global Chief of Strategy & Operations for GE International Markets

"The theme of this year's Emirati Women's Day - Women: Ambitions & Inspiration for Next 50 Years - emphasizes the role women will continue to play in the progress, growth and prosperity of the UAE. It inspires all generations of Emirati women to contribute to the work of nation building – now and in the future - to assume leadership positions. The UAE continues its steadfast efforts to empower women at various levels, enrich their knowledge and qualifications, and promote gender equality. Women play an important role in nurturing future generations and preparing them for the skills of the future. This year’s celebrations coincide with the “Year of the 50th” and provide a valuable opportunity for Emirati women to follow in the footsteps of the founders of the nation to further strengthen the reputation of the UAE globally.”

Habiba Al Mar'ashi, Co-Founder & Treasurer, EmiratesGBC

“The Emirati Women’s Day signifies the nation’s commitment to empowering women and enabling them to push their boundaries. I have always believed that an Emirati woman stands for ambition, and over the past years we have witnessed how our women have led from the forefront in every sector – from space exploration to environment management. This has been possible because our leadership believes in the significant role that women play in nation building. At Emirates Environmental Group and the Emirates Green Building Council, we have women driving discussions and actions on positive climate action and in working towards the green vision of our nation. In the Next 50 years, women will play an even more defining role and make compelling contributions to support the UAE Centennial 2071 goals.”

Zeinab Ali – Quality Executive, managing Dubai Tram at ENGIE Solutions

Emirati women of today are the leaders and changemakers of society.  We are continuing to reach new heights of leadership across the nation, and this is being further driven due to the ongoing support from our government. I am grateful to belong to a country that prioritizes women’s empowerment and growth. Together, we are one step closer to reaching our ambitions and aspirations for a brighter and prosperous future.
