BAGHDAD- Iraq's trade minister confirmed on Wednesday his country had purchased 120,000 tonnes of rice of Vietnamese origin outside of the international tender process.

Traders told Reuters on Tuesday the purchase was made through a direct contract with Vietnamese trading house Vinafood1.  Trade Minister Mohammed Hashim al-Aani also said Iraq would soon announce new international purchasing tenders and direct deals for wheat and rice.
