Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that the total number of shopping appointment bookings in cooperative stores, parallel markets, and family supplies branches registered 74,408 last Monday where 42,210 shoppers attended.

This has taken the total number of appointment bookings to 1.059 million since the online shopping appointment platform was first launched in April as part of Kuwait's measures to reduce crowding to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), according to an official statement.

Cooperative stores saw 43,059 appointments with 24,738 attendees, accounting for 57%, whilst appointments at parallel markets totalled 25,323 with 15,201 visits, representing 60%.

Family supplies branches recorded 6,026 appointments with 2,271 visitors, accounting for 38% of the overall bookings.

Moreover, 155 complaints were received yesterday through the 135 hotline, the ministry added.

During their inspection tour, emergency teams inspected and audited 79 cooperative stores and parallel markets to check their compliance with the applicable regulations and standards. The teams also inspected 66 family supplies branches.

Until the present time, Kuwait has a national COVID-19 case count of 15,691, along with 4,339 recoveries, and 118 deaths.
