Abu Dhabi - The Emirates Angel Investors Association has announced the new business directory feature of its mobile application, giving all app users easier and faster access to a list of technology startups in the UAE. The app’s directory is designed to empower angel investors by enabling them to search for investment opportunities in the featured startups and connect with their owners for possible partnerships. At the same time, this latest function opens the door for startup owners to reach out to angel investors.

H.E. Masaood Rahma Al Masaood, Chairman of the Board, Emirates Angels, said: “The decision to integrate a business directory feature into the app stemmed from our belief that there should be a comprehensive and highly accessible startup listing readily available to the country’s angel investors. The directory will further boost the app’s ability to facilitate smooth communication between potential business partners, paving the way for better and more active collaborations and, consequently, increased investment activities with a positive national economic impact.”

He added: "The UAE’s investment-friendly business ecosystem has the right infrastructure for angel investors and entrepreneurs to thrive.  The strong support extended by the country’s wise leadership and relevant entities led by the Ministry of Economy helps angel investors achieve success and excellence in their respective business endeavours. The business directory is another step taken to bring investors and startup owners closer to their aspirations and goals."

For his part, His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy stressed the importance of the startup sector in the country, which the ministry attaches great importance to. His Excellency also praised the role played by the Emirates Angels, whether through investing in startups or through events and programs organized by the association, stressing the Ministry of Economy's support for all these initiatives.

During the first quarter of 2021, the UAE received one of the biggest shares in the total startup investments and deals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Eleven investment deals worth USD 130 million were signed in the country during the period. In 2020, a total of 129 investment contracts worth USD 579 million were sealed.

All startups may register for free to be part of the business directory, which reflects Emirates Angels’ commitment to increase the startups’ participation in and contributions to the national economy.

Emirates Angels’ mobile app can be downloaded from the Apple AppStore, Google PlayStore and Huawei AppGallery.
