Dubai: Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), the UAE Federal Credit Insurance Company, is set to participate in the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) as gold sponsor. The world’s leading foreign direct investment platform will be held from April 8 to 10, 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Centre and will be supported by ECI to promote international investments and global expansion of UAE businesses.

This year’s theme, ‘Mapping the Future of FDI: Enriching World Economies through Digital Globalisation’, is a topic that will resonate with UAE-based exporters looking to access markets outside of the UAE as it will give them a glimpse into how the future of FDI landscape will be influenced by digital globalisation.

The focal point of the event is to bring together a distinguished pool of thought leaders, policy makers, regional and international investors, academicians, entrepreneurs and specialists to discuss and demonstrate the latest market intelligence and strategies on attracting foreign direct investments. The event is a significant platform especially for UAE businesses that are looking to penetrate high potential and high growth global markets.

Massimo Falcioni, CEO, ECI said: “ECI is proud to support Annual Investment Meeting, an initiative of the UAE Ministry of Economy, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. ECI is well-positioned to play a significant role in the development of the country’s non-oil exports, trade, investments, and strategic sectors, in line with the Vision 2021 agenda. By participating as a gold sponsor, ECI aims to leverage on the Annual Investment Meeting, a leading event for foreign direct investments by creating awareness amongst the UAE businesses regarding the importance of risk mitigation solutions that can support their growth and international expansion. AIM 2019 presents an opportunity for ECI to emphasise the support it extends to local businesses, facilitating access to funding for them to tap international markets. This year’s participation will further allow ECI to showcase the Shariah-compliant and conventional risk mitigation tools and solutions to meet these companies’ needs.”

Massimo Falcioni will also deliver the keynote address in support to UAE's sustainable economic diversification growth strategy at one of the plenary sessions.

Since its inception, ECI has been bridging the gap in trade, exports and investments by increasing the global competitiveness of UAE companies, thereby supporting the country’s non-oil economic diversification strategy. AIM 2019, with the presence of attendees across diverse segments such as governmental agencies, banks and financial institutions, startups, multinational corporations, amongst others from around 140 countries makes it a highly significant industry event for ECI to highlight its role in supporting the growth of the UAE’s non-oil exports, trade, investments and strategic sectors, in line with country’s Vision 2021 agenda.

According to the Economic Report 2018 released by the UAE's Ministry of Economy, the UAE was classified as a country with the topmost foreign direct investment potential in the Middle East and Africa Region. The same report revealed that the UAE encouraged about USD10.4 billion of foreign direct investment in 2017 with an average growth rate recorded to be 1.6 per cent during the period from 2012-2017.
