SOKHNA – Today, DP World Sokhna, which has a 25-year concession agreement with the Egyptian government to manage the Sokhna Port , and Elsewedy Technical Academy (STA), signed a cooperation agreement sponsoring students to study logistics. The sponsorship will enable Egyptian youth to work in a booming industry while supporting Egypt’s global trade.

For DP World Sokhna, this means there will be a pipeline of highly skilled talent for the continuously growing business, and the organisation has a hand in developing the future logistics workforce.

Gerard Van den Heuvel, Egypt Country Manager and CEO at DP World Sokhna, said: “There’s nothing more fulfilling than investing in Egyptian youth, and integrating our future leaders into the logistics field will guarantee our success. We understand that people are our most important asset, and for that reason, DP World Sokhna has invested in vocational education and training, paving the way for students’ successful careers in logistics.”

Mrs. Hanan Elrihany, CEO at STA, said: “Educating students to meet the diverse needs of the Egyptian market and across the region is the objective of our work at STA. Partnering with DP World will ensure the development of the Technical Vocational Education and Training System in the field of Logistics, which creates a highly-competitive labour pool and supports the country’s economic growth.”

STA is a secondary-level school providing a three-year education program in alignment with international standards. It adopts dual education model, where practical work will make up 80 percent of the curriculum, exposing students to hands-on learning and the skills needed for the fast-paced logistics industry. Theoretical classes will take place at STA, while practical training will take place at DP World Sokhna for the program’s third year students.

DP World’s vision for a better, more equitable world focuses on bringing positive change across the three legacy areas: Education, Women’s Empowerment and Oceans. This program is a priority for DP World Sokhna as it touches on both education and women, providing the necessary skills and qualifications to achieve their potential in the logistics industry.
