ArabFinance: Egypt detected 890 additional COVID-19 infections on January 17th, taking the total count to 156,397.

The ministry reported 56 new fatalities, bringing the death toll to 8,583.

The country now has 122,993 total recoveries, after 702 more patients were discharged from COVID-19 hospitals, the statement added.

The number of COVID-19 patients entering intensive care units, besides those being placed on ventilators, has declined by 50% since the beginning of January, compared to December, health minister Hala Zayed said in a statement.
