ArabFinance: Egypt’s new one-stop customs clearance system is scheduled to be fully operational across the main ports by the end of June 2021, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait revealed on October 19th.

Logistics centers in Alexandria will start operating by the end of October, while Damietta services will start in November, the minister said.

He added that El Dekheila Port’s logistics centers will be operational in January 2021.

Egypt, therefore, will manage more than 90% of its imports and exports electronically within three months, according to Maait.

The government is working on bringing down the clearance period to less than three days at the ports of Ain Sokhna as well as West and East Port Said this year, and at the remaining ports before the end of 2021, the minister noted.

Maait announced last August that the logistics centers in Cairo, West and East Port Said, and Ain Sokhna were already operating.
