DUBAI/HAMBURG  - Saudi Arabia's state grain buyer SAGO said on Monday it had bought 715,000 tonnes of wheat at its latest international purchasing tender.

The wheat was purchased at an average price of $247.46 a tonne, SAGO said.

The tender closed on Friday, with the agency seeking arrival in Saudi Arabia in April and June 2020.

Origins offered were the European Union, Black Sea region, North America (excluding Canada), South America and Australia, with the seller having the option of selecting the origin supplied, SAGO governor Ahmad Al-Fares said in a statement.

"I think there will be hopes in Germany and Poland that a good slice of the Saudi purchase will be supplied from these countries," one European trader said.

The purchase comprises 12 consignments, six to be shipped to the port of Jeddah, five to Dammam and one to Jazan, he said.
