Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigations, is monitoring a number of cases of electronic fraud that many people were subjected to, through fake electronic trading operations by persons outside the Sultanate.

A statement issued online by the ROP said: “The Royal Oman Police calls on citizens and residents to understand the importance of verifying the identity of the people they interact with and the reliability of the websites through which they communicate in electronic business operations, whether with individuals or institutions or via electronic sites and applications.”

“The Royal Oman Police warns citizens and residents against responding to imaginary people who communicate illegally using social media or call from outside the Sultanate, and stresses the importance of using the correct channels in commercial operations and checking the integrity of procedures as well as the correctness of these sites," ROP added.
