Muscat - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced via Twitter that in cooperation with the Public Authority for Craft Industries it has prepared standards for the dishdasha to preserve the Omani identity.

The ministry hopes to announce the standards next week.

To safeguard the Omani identity the ministry will declare five dresses that are commonly worn in different governorates of the sultanate, according to a ministry tweet.

The ministry said officials visited a number of dishdasha makers with a long history and also listened to elders in different governorates regarding various aspects of the dress before finalising the standards.
