Egypt's Ministry of Industry is scheduled to finish the first phase of Damietta Furniture City within upcoming nine months.

Advisor to Minister of Industry and Trade, Yasser El Maghraby stated Tuesday that the ministry started launching steel and iron complex as pursuant to its strategy for attracting foreign investors.

He clarified that the strategy focuses on expanding in industrial complexes and enhancing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

The official made these remarks during the 2nd Egypt Mega Projects Conference that was held on November 15.

The conference targets following up Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC) and providing ministers, public authorities and private sector to debate and discuss the Egyptian market, provide project updates and share challenges and solutions to further driving Egypt’s economy.

The Egyptian ministry started depending on launching the first industrial complex in Egypt, El Maghraby said, adding that the ministry is scheduled to start relocating leather tanneries from Magra El Oyon region to Al-Robeky industrial zone within 3-4 months.
