Muscat: New Metrics, an Oman-based Experience Consultancy, has wrapped up a two-day Digital Marketing Masterclass at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat, attended by marketing and communications professionals from a range of sectors including telecoms, banking, hospitality and leisure.  The masterclass, delivered by Google academy trainer Rob Thurner, explored techniques and processes which drive velocity at Google, Amazon and other digital disrupters.  The program aimed to equip participants with practical stills to utilise digital marketing to boost sales, improve customer experience, and bolster innovation.

Speaking about the workshop, New Metrics CEO Mohammed Debouk noted, “The masterclass gave a birds-eye view of the ever-changing digital marketing industry, drawing from the real-world experience of global digital expert Rob Thurner.  In addition to Rob’s valuable insights, the workshop also saw rich discussions and debates based on the wide range of experiences and marketing needs of the participants.  We would like to congratulate and thank the attendees whose efforts and enthusiasm ensured the success of the workshop.  This is the first of many open workshops we plan to run in coming months exploring digital marketing and other trending business topics so watch this space.”

Rob Thurner is digital strategist and lead trainer for the Google Digital Academy, facilitating their C-level digital transformation, brand solutions, mobile, performance and programmatic masterclasses. In addition, he is a course leader with EMERITUS Institute of Management: delivering transformational management education programs in collaboration with MIT Sloan, Columbia Business School & INSEAD.

Commenting on the importance of digital marketing, Rob Thurner said, “Many organisations around the world believe that digital transformation is only about technology.  In my experience, digital is significantly more far-reaching and impacts all aspects of business. To be competitive in our rapidly changing world, an organisation must focus on customer experience, how its people develop and deliver customer friendly products and services, the smartest ways to use data and automation, with technology underpinning all of these aspects.”

“To avoid being disrupted, organisations need to assess their capabilities and skills and put the customer at the heart of everything they do.  We can all apply an experimental mindset to constantly test, learn and innovate, and the world’s leading digital disruptors do.  The Digital Marketing Masterclass tackled all these aspects in a highly practical and interactive way.  I look forward to returning to Muscat with New Metrics to explore other topics around digital transformation and marketing in the near future,” added Rob Thurner.

New Metrics engages in a range of learning and development and consultancy programs with organisations across the Sultanate.  Last year, New Metrics joined hands with Omantel to deploy a year-long Marketing School, a holistic development program designed to equip over 60 participants with the marketing skills relevant to the rapidly evolving telecoms industry.  The program culminated with a trip to the United Kingdom for the five top performing learners to visit some of London’s leading and most iconic organisations with the aim of taking lessons and inspiration back to their roles.

New Metrics is an Oman-based Management Consultancy and Training Institute specialising in organisational effectiveness and people experience.  Since its founding, New Metrics has worked along-side prominent local and international companies to help to transform their business and employee performance through impactful and bespoke solutions.
