Cairo –  The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity announced an investment of EGP 110 million in developing electricity distribution networks in Qalyubia Governorate.

The electricity network serves 1.2 million residents in the governorate, including about 330,000 pre-paid customers, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

From July 2020 until April 2021, an amount of EGP 55 million has been invested in replacing and expanding the electricity network in the governorate.

The development work includes 58 medium-voltage distribution boards, 1,600 kilometres (km) of medium-voltage overhead power lines, 1,545 km of medium-voltage underground cables, 4,575 km of low-voltage overhead power lines, 225 km of low-voltage underground cables, and 4,187 transformers with total capacity of 1,600 megavolt amperes (MVA).

Moreover, the value of third-party projects amounted to about EGP 60 million.
