Cairo: Egypt is currently accelerating the manufacturing of the fifth, sixth, and seventh production units at the supergiant offshore gas field Zohr in Port Said, the Egyptian petroleum minister said.

The remaining production units will raise the capacity of the onshore treatment plant to reach over 3 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in 2019, Tarek El-Molla added in a press release.

This came as part of the minister’s tour to Zohr’s onshore plant in Port Said.

In 2017, El-Molla said that the offshore natural gas field located in the Egyptian sector of the Mediterranean Sea began to inject natural gas output into Port Said treatment plant with an initial production capacity of 350 mcfd.
