AL AIN - The United Arab Emirates University today announced the launch of a series of activities during the launch ceremony of Innovation Month 2023, themed "UAE Innovates", in the presence of Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Chancellor of the UAE University, and several UAEU leaders, faculty members and students.

Nusseibeh said, "Through its continuous efforts in research, development and strategic educational plans, the UAE University aims to create a generation of students capable of leading the future and achieving the vision of the wise leadership in making the UAE a global innovation hub for the best minds.

"We are pleased that all the initiatives and events launched by the university over the last few years during Innovation Month have greatly spread the culture of innovation among everyone. It has encouraged the spirit of competition and highlighted innovative and creative ideas, and the pioneering faculty and students’ innovative projects.”

He added, "This year, we look forward to seeing your creations and innovations, which prove to everyone that the UAE University is the university of the future that drive towards a bright future full of scientific and technical innovations for our current and future generations.”

The launch ceremony included the presentation of the projects of UAEU faculty members, researchers and students. The Department of Integrative Agriculture presented Hydroponic and Aquaponic units in Nutrient Film Technique for comparing coriander herb production.

The College of Engineering presented “the roller expanded tube-to-tube sheet joints using friction stir welding process for heat exchanger applications". The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering presented a Method for Ammonia Recovery from Contaminated Water Including Solvay Effluent and Aqueous Solutions. In addition, the Khalifa Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology presented a number of agricultural sustainability-related projects.
