Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) has extended the tender closing date for the design and build contract for three underground water reservoirs in Al Mutlaa Residential City.

“The bid submission deadline, originally slated for 21 November 2021, was extended multiple times. The new deadline is 8 March 2022,” a source told Zawya Projects.

The source didn’t provide the reason for the extensions but noted that the tender for main construction was issued on 19 September 2021.

He didn’t disclose the project or contract values.

MEW had prequalified 13 firms to bid for the contract. These included Kuwait Factory Building and Contracting Company; Consolidated Contractors Company (Kuwait); Al Dar Engineering and Construction Company; Combined Group Contracting Company; Al Ahmadiyah Contracting and Trading Company; The Kuwaiti Arab Contractors Company; Mohammed Abdul Mohsen Al-Kharafi & Sons Company for General Trading; General Contracting and Industrial Facilities; Alghanim International General Trading and Contracting Company; United Gulf Construction Company; Khaled Ali Al-Kharafi & Brothers Company for Construction Contracting; Al Hani Construction & Trading Company; KCC Engineering and Contracting Company and Bayan National Construction Contracting Company KSCC,  officials from six companies confirmed.

The scope of work involves the construction of three reinforced concrete (RCC) ground-based fresh-water tanks, each with a capacity of 115 million gallons, as well as pipelines, pumping stations and utility works.

The source said the project is slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2024.
