UAE-based Al-Futtaim Group is focusing on fast-expanding its e-mobility sector as green mobility takes priority in the country.

The company has launched Electric Mobility Company, the country's first e-mobility-focused dealership.

The new entity is slated to grow fast in a sector already witnessing a surge in demand, with the UAE's EV market expected to grow at a CAGR of 30 percent until 2028, the company said in a press statement.

In addition, the Electric Mobility Company announced China's BYD as its first new energy vehicle (NEV) partner.

BYD is a top NEV manufacturer, having sold 1.86 million NEVs worldwide in 2022 alone and more than three million NEVs to date.

Al-Futtaim also announced its partnership with the global technology firm, Siemens, to create Charge2Moov charging stations. The product has been launched for EV customers, with plans to extend into public charging solutions to add to the fast-growing EV infrastructure within the country.

The charging stations have a 5-year warranty and are suitable for all-electric vehicle models and brands.

The UAE has declared 2023 the "Year of Sustainability", with the country set to host the COP28 conference later this year.
