Cityscape, the international commercial architecture and property development event, announced today that they have teamed up with Architectural Review, the highly acclaimed international publication, for this year's Architectural Awards at Cityscape 2004 - "Design for an Emerging World". Architectural Review is the largest international architectural magazine in the world with an audited circulation of over 20,000 copies.

"The aim of the Cityscape Architectural Review Awards (CARA) is to recognise and promote excellence in architecture and design in the region.  To have Architectural Review supporting this year's show is testimony to Cityscape's phenomenal growth in the past three years and our outstanding reputation amongst the international architecture fraternity," said Neil Hickman, Project Manager, IIR.

"Six of the most recognized and acclaimed architects from around the world will use their knowledge and expertise to judge the entries based on a number of important criteria including the project's contribution to world architectural culture, invention and imagination, environmental awareness and appropriateness," added Hickman.

Peter Davey OBE, editorial director of Architectural Review, has been confirmed as one of the judges along with George Ferguson, President of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).  Judges from the region include Suha Ozkan, Secretary General to the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and Ali Shuaibi, a highly acclaimed Saudi Arabian architect and planner. Dr. Ken Yeang, an architect, specializing in the design and planning of 'green' or ecologically-responsive large buildings and sites and Professor Charles Correa, an Indian architect, planner, activist, and theoretician known for the wide range of his architectural work in India and across the Third World complete the panel.

Nad Al Sheba, the official venue for the prestigious Dubai World Cup, will host the awards ceremony scheduled to take place on the 29th of November 2004. Over 800 architects, developers and industry professionals will be invited to attend the ceremony. The evening, which will include a pre-awards show reception and a sumptuous gala dinner and entertainment, is set to become the highlight of the international architectural calendar.

Sponsors for the awards show include Dorma, Swarovski and Degussa. Both buildings (those that are already complete) and projects (those incomplete or still on the drawing board) are eligible for submission and the deadline for receipt of entries is October 31st, 2004.  Further information including submission guidelines and entry forms can be found at www.cityscape-online.com

Cityscape 2004 is scheduled to take place between November 29th and December 1st 2004 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
