Shrek to premiere on Showtime

Shrek(2001), the best fully computer-generated imagery (CGI) movie ever produced, will broadcast on Showtime Home Cinema™ in the first week of October.

The movie, which has won 25 awards including an Oscar for Best Animated Feature and has been nominated for 35 others, is another example of Showtime’s commitment to bringing the best world entertainment to Middle East viewers.

Shrek is a fantastic fully CGI movie that delivers in classic fairytale style a lesson about beauty and challenges preconceptions about true beauty.   The captivating format features the voices of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Shrek (Mike Myers) is a smelly, green ogre enlisted to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from captivity and bring her to marry Lord Farquaad.   With help from his new donkey friend (Eddie Murphy), Shrek succeeds releasing the beautiful Princess before falling in love with her himself.

This movie – produced by the DreamWorks SKG studio – took more than five years to make and, interestingly, never required the principal actors, including Mike Myers (Austin Powers), Eddie Murphy (The Nutty Professor) and Cameron Diaz (Charlie's Angels), to work face to face.   Each read their part separately, with a reader supplying the missing lines from the other characters.
