Dubai, UAE - Laser Middle East, ART Marine LLC and Volvo Cars Middle East, in association with Festival Marina, launched the Volvo Laser SB3 Middle East Grand Prix on the 10th of September 2007.
This event took place at the newly opened Festival Marina, owned by Dubai Festival City and managed by IGY.
A press conference was held, during which the structure of the Grand Prix was outlined by Russell Burns, ART Marine's Sailing Director. A test sailing event followed this press conference, where members of the media, team owners and other sailing enthusiasts took to the Dubai Creek for an afternoon of informal competition.
During the press conference, Laser Middle East Director, Richard Lewis, took the opportunity to announce the formation of the 1st all-women's team in the Grand Prix, with selection trials commencing in the 3rd week of September. Public interested in the event continues to grow with enquiries from across the GCC and as far as Ireland. We are looking forward to a very successful and ground breaking first season, whose final will take place at the end of DIBS 2008.
