SAE Institute, the largest media arts college in the world, announced its offering of the new Digital Journalism Program at the SAE Amman campus starting October 24th, 2010.
The one-year program, designed to provide students with diverse digital journalism skills, will be covering journalism, multimedia, video and TV production and editing, audio and software and equipment.
Commenting on the program's launch was SAE Middle East's Managing Director, Kieran Galvin, "The world of journalism as we know it has undergone tremendous changes in the past ten years. In the Middle East, print, radio and TV were once the undisputed and dominant media, however; these days most people read blogs, digest the electronic versions of newspapers online. This is especially the case in Jordan where a large digital journalism community thrives. In the past, Jordanian journalists required a support team with technical experience. Now, a journalist only needs a camera and a laptop to reach out to audiences and as witnessed in several incidents, Jordanian bloggers and digital journalists are an unshakable force shaping daily news."
"Our Digital Journalism program is designed to produce efficient, skilled SOJO's (solo journalists) that can ride the wave of web 2.0 with ease and produce media utilizing blogging, mobile content generation, podcasts, digital videography, and content distribution and syndication. In contrast with traditional 4-year university journalism graduates, our digital journalism graduates are able to acquire all the needed skills in one year and to enter the modern job market with confidence," added Galvin.
Upon fulfilling the program's requirements, graduates will receive a vocational diploma from Al-Balqa Applied University, accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education, and a diploma from SAE International, which has more than 50 campuses around the world.
It is worth mentioning that SAE Amman was established in 2008 in partnership with Luminus Group. SAE Amman is equipped with the world's state-of-the-art equipment and expert instructors that provide students with quality education and post-graduation opportunities.
