Muscat, Oman: Ooredoo is pleased to congratulate Ahmed Abdullah Al Abri, its Chief Technology and Information Officer, for obtaining his Doctoral degree in Business Administration from Glasgow Caledonian University, UK. Ahmed has been part of the Ooredoo family for 15 years, and is credited with his role in driving the company’s ambitious network expansion strategy. His Doctoral degree focused on the role of telecommunications regulations in promoting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Oman, a unique piece of research globally and one that complements Ooredoo’s efforts to support the development of the Sultanate’s digital economy.
Ahmed’s vast experience in the telecommunications industry covers a wide range of functions including network, technological and strategic planning, the implementation of telecommunications networks, information technology, digitalisation and technology project management, telecommunications regulations, and project engineering. He joined Ooredoo in 2006 as Chief Engineer for Planning and later moved to various executive positions, before being appointed as Chief Technology and Information Officer in 2018. Ahmed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Hull, UK. He is also a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program at London Business School.
