In the ever growing competitive business environment of Oman, how often do you find rivals helping each other? Not very often, but Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) definitely stands out in that area.

Recently, a private healthcare facility in the capital was faced with a major crisis and it was MPH that stepped in to help. A young gentleman had a successful urological surgery in a local private hospital but two days after the procedure he developed a chest infection which rapidly progressed to heart failure and accumulation of fluid in the lungs (ARDS). He needed urgent respiratory support through artificial ventilation in order to save his life. Muscat Private Hospital offered a helping hand to manage this critically ill young man in their Intensive Care Unit under the expert supervision of Dr. John Irvine, Chief of Critical Care Services and Dr. K G Rajan, Chief of Internal Medicine.

The patient required ventilatory support for five days coupled with high dose intravenous multiple antibiotic therapy. Following this intensive plan of care, under the guidance and treatment of the two senior doctors and the highly trained support staff, the patient recovered fully.

Dr David W Saxton, Medical Director, Head of Womens Health Services, Muscat Private Hospital, says, "We are very glad that we could be of assistance to a fellow healthcare facility in the Sultanate. It is very important for the private sector facility to join hands and work with each other. This will not only improve the facilities available in the Sultanate but will also raise the bar regionally. What's also important that it will reduce the burden on the public healthcare sector and the two can join forces in offering the people in the country & even the region a world class healthcare service."

Muscat Private Hospital is Muscat's premier private medical facility. Strategically located in Baushar, the Hospital provides first-class out-patient and in-patient facilities and all the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of an acute care hospital, including CT and MRI.
