GSM operator MobileCom revealed a collection of new hi-tech services that are to be launched in the Jordanian market, during a press conference with live demonstration. The new services, Mobile TV, Push Email and Dandanah (Ring Back Tones), were live demonstrated to the attendees by MobileCom?s Products and Services Marketing team.
MobileCom Chief Executive Officer Mickael Ghossein, Marwan Al-Muhaisen Products and Services Marketing Manager, Mohammad Al-Muhaisen Strategic Marketing Manager as well as other company representatives attended the conference.
?Our customers have become accustomed to MobileCom consistently delivering high quality, cutting edge services and ensuring they have access to the best offers and services in the market. Today, we reasserted this by launching three advanced services that we believe will set us apart from the rest of the market and prove valuable to our customers,? Ghossein said.
?MobileCom is proud to be the first to launch Push Email not only in Jordan, but also the Middle East and North Africa. This is truly a notable accomplishment,? Marwan Al- Muhasien said. He went on to explain that Push Email links mobile phones to e-mails directly through activating GPRS / EDGE services. The uniqueness of the service comes from the ability to provide the highest data transfer rates in addition to its flexibility and efficiency, which allows emails to be delivered and viewed with attachments.
Targeted mostly at the business sector, Marwan Al-Muhaisen pointed out that MobileCom's high quality infrastructure and cutting edge technologies enabled the introduction of Push Email utilizing its EDGE service as data transfer could be increased significantly (up to eight times the normal GPRS rate). MobileCom was the first locally and tenth globally to introduce the EDGE services.
Representatives went on to demonstrate MobileCom's Mobile TV service, which basically enables customers to download many local and international video content as if they are watching it from their own TV sets. The content or video footage includes anything from news, sports, movie trailers, music clips, games and snap shots to theater plays.
CEO said that MobileCom was the first to provide the capability to access video content through EDGE technology in the local market. He also pointed out that customers require handsets that support GPRS/EDGE technology in order to benefit from the service. ?Customers can obtain this service easily by visiting Yalla WAP portal, a special portal to MobileCom, then selecting Mobile TV link followed by the specific name of the preferred application,? Ghossein said.
In introducing its Dandanah (Ring Back Tones) service, the company outlined that the service gives customers the opportunity to introduce a personal touch through choosing a 'friendly personalized' ring tone from a collection of Arabic, English songs or even sound clips, thus replacing the the traditional switchboard ?ring-ring? sound. In the future, when contacts call MobileCom customers they can expect to hear the latest tones, tunes and personalised sound clips.
Dandanah (Ring Back Tones) service will be available through WEB, WAP, IVR for both Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go customers. Furthermore, this service also works for customers traveling and using MobileCom's roaming services.
According to extensive studies that preceded the launch of these services, MobileCom expects both awareness and usage of these new applications to grow substantially as Jordan is one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the Middle East.
It is worth mentioning that MobileCom was the first to launch superior services such as GPRS and EDGE. The mobile provider also launched an exclusive offer for Karak Governorate, the balance transfer and Call Me Back service among plethora of other unique services.
In conclusion, Mr. Ghossein assured that MobileCom is keen to further develop its services stressing that the company is fully aware of its responsibility in enhancing the national telecommunication sector. ?Our belief is that the services we provide will continue to contribute to the achievement of His Majesty?s visionto spread advanced telecom services across all segments of society and to be with our customers for a better life.
