Dubai Bone & Joint Center Hosts Hip & Knee Pain Forum
Dubai, April 24th, 2006: Doctors from across the UAE gathered recently at the Management of Hip & Knee Pain Forum held at the Al Murooj Rotana hotel in Dubai. The event, organized by the Dubai Bone & Joint Center, aimed to offer the specialists advice on how to improve diagnosis, and offer a better understanding of patients who present with hip and knee pain.
The conference also included a joint injection training session and an interactive Q & A session.
"Contrary to popular perception, people with osteoarthritis need not submit themselves to a lifestyle of deterioration and disability," explained Suzanne Al Houby, CEO Dubai Bone & Joint Center. "Many of the aches, pains and stiffness that characterize the condition can often be controlled and alleviated," she added.
Early diagnosis and improved management can benefit patients through symptomatic relief, allowing them to adjust to the realities of their condition and take more control of their lives.
Reinforcing the need for a benchmark in joint care management, Dr Chris Whately, Senior Orthopaedic Surgery, Dubai Bone & Joint Center, said, "We are fortunate to live in a time when arthritis does not have to end in severe pain and disability. Through excellent drug therapies and innovative surgeries, patients who used to end up in wheel chairs can now enjoy an active lifestyle for many years."
The forum was designed to educate the local medical community on the management of Hip & Knee conditions from the perspectives of various specialists from relevant disciplines, and included lectures on advances in Hip & Knee Arthritis, Inflammatory Arthritis, Spinal Orthopedic Surgery or and Pediatric Orthopaedic conditions.
