AlUla, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Spanish tenor José Carreras performed a charming operative night titled Spanish Prestige in this weekend, during which he performed many musical masterpieces, on Friday, 10th January, at the Winter at Tantora Festival, organised by the Royal Commission for AlUla.
Carreras is one of the most famous opera singers in the world; he was born on 5th December 1946 in Barcelona, Spain, and began his career at a very young age. When he was seventeen years old, Carreras performed his debut at the opera house in Barcelona. He quickly progressed in the seventies and sang for the first time in America in the famous opera Madame Butterfly, and his fame spread throughout the world in the middle of that decade. He performed significant roles in twenty-four opera productions.
In the arms of the picturesque nature of AlUla, the wonderful operatic concert took place at Maraya Concert Hall, which is the largest theatre constructed with mirrors in the world, it represents a modern architectural masterpiece and can accommodate about five-hundred guests with the addition of high-quality opera theatre sound systems. The festival also includes many other diverse activities in the local markets, winter garden, farms, and the old town.
Over the course of 12 weeks, the Winter at Tantora Festival will present plentiful activities that express the merging of Eastern and Western cultures, embodying the extension of AlUla's civilisation and its historical symbolism as it remained a defined core for cultures and civilisations from different parts of the world throughout history.
Winter at Tantora Festival also offers a wide range of diverse experiences that meet the needs of all visitors and entertain all tastes — whether for individuals, groups or families from all walks of life. The festival will take place on weekends starting 19th December 2019, and running until 7th March 2020.
