Exclusive Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, International Watch Company Schaffhausen (IWC), have launched the latest collection of professional timepieces for pilots and watch connoisseurs for the first time in Jordan at Abu Shakra Gardens Showroom in December.

"We have been manufacturing pilot's watches since the mid-1930s and we will always stand by our motto - Probus Scafusia - meaning good solid craftsmanship from Schaffhausen," said IWC Brand Manager, Gianfranco D'Attis.

"IWC first launched its special watch for pilots in 1936 and these watches were designed to survive in the cockpits of the aircraft of the time. Today little has changed, as these watches have been designed and conceived for them." he added.

The new Classic collection of pilots' timepieces comprises four models: the new Big Pilot's Watch, the Double Chronograph, the Chrono-Automatic, the classic Mark XVI Other new features in this collection include the following: The case diameter of the Mark XVI has grown in comparison to its predecessor, the Mark XV. And the case of the Chrono-Automatic has also been refashioned - from 39 millimetres to 42 millimetres. One particular collector's item is the Double Chronograph in a ceramic case, which will be produced in a limited edition of 1,000 watches.

One of the most graceful and elegant aircraft ever produced was the Spitfire; in fact, it is said that every pilot that flew it fell in love with the same. Considered by many as the true spirit of aviation, the Spitfire made its maiden flight in the same year as IWC launched its Pilot collection in 1936; exactly 70 years ago. These two legends meet again at IWC - in the new Spitfire pilot's watches collection.

Also available  at Abu Shakra in Jordan  will be a stunningly beautiful special edition of the IWC Pilot's Chronograph that commemorates the French author and aviation pioneer Antoine de Saint-Exupry, who published his novel "Night Flight" 75 years ago and is perhaps best-known as the writer of the classic "The Little Prince." IWC has dedicated a pilot's watch in a limited edition as a tribute to this renowned flyer and story teller.

This special edition builds a bridge to one of the true trailblazers of aviation; who, as both author and pilot, described the great human adventure of flying 75 years ago.

IWC is the only watch manufacturer based in the east of Switzerland and has been producing high quality mechanical timepieces for almost 140 years. The IWC brand has become synonymous with craftsmanship and performance by pilots and discerning customers the world over.

Leading impulses for the mechanical watch come from IWC. With its 390 employees, the company manufactures these sought-after pieces. Since the year 2000 IWC has belonged to the watch division of Richemont SA.
