Home Furnishing Retailer Selected FortiGate and FortiAnalyzer Appliances for High Performance, Ease of Management and Cost-Effectiveness

Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) − a leading network security provider and the worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions − announced that Index Living Mall has deployed Fortinet's FortiGate® and FortiAnalyzer™ security appliances to help protect its expanding network. Index chose Fortinet's solutions for their high performance, ease of management and cost effectiveness.

Index Living Mall is a large home furnishing store chain in Thailand, offering well-designed high-quality furniture. It has 17 standalone mega-stores and 23 furniture outlets in Bangkok and other provinces, like Phuket and Pattaya, as well as overseas franchises in Dubai.

As Index Living Mall was looking at growing its business locally and internationally, the retailer had to expand and upgrade its IT infrastructure accordingly. Index Living Mall also needed to ensure that sensitive business information would be protected in the larger network and that spam would be reduced, all this while cutting down on IT maintenance costs through improved efficiency.

After evaluating appliances from key security vendors including Juniper Networks and SonicWALL on performance, ease of management as well as acquisition and operating costs, Index Living Mall opted for Fortinet's FortiGate-310B integrated multi-threat network security and FortiAnalyzer-100C centralized reporting appliances.

"Fortinet is the right choice. The FortiGate appliance offers substantial benefits over best-in-class point solutions and performs better than competing UTM devices," said Jumras Saeyang, vice president of Index Living Mall. "Its ability to offer strong protection at the application level is especially appealing to us."

With the FortiGate-310B appliance, Index benefits from a full range of security functionalities, including application firewall, VPN, IPS, antivirus, Web filtering, antispam and application control. Thanks to Fortinet's appliance accelerated security throughput, high port density and ease of management, the retailer can perform internal network security segmentation and policy control down to the user and application levels.

The deployment of the FortiGate-310B resulted in a dramatic reduction of spam and also helped improve Index Living Mall's network performance through WAN optimization, per-IP bandwidth shaping and local Web caching technologies.

With the  FortiAnalyzer-100C appliance, security management has become easier with internal users, customers and vendors now being managed from a single console. Fortinet's reporting device securely aggregates, analyzes, and reports on log data gathered from the FortiGate. Index can now get detailed information on traffic, events, viruses, attacks, Web content, etc to determine its security stance.

Peerapong Jongvibool, Fortinet's Country Manager for Thailand, said: "Fortinet has a unique strength in meeting the security needs of fast-growing and diversified enterprises like Index Living Mall. Our high performance, flexible and cost-effective solutions enjoy more and more traction among Thai enterprises as economic uncertainty looms and CIOs come under pressure to secure more with less."
