Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 8 March, 2010: Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, is touring their LTE Mobile Broadband Truck throughout the Middle East and North Africa regions. From January to October, the Huawei demo truck introduces LTE technology demonstrations and innovative solutions.
Huawei estimates that global data traffic on mobile broadband networks will grow 1,000 times over the next decade, from the current 85 million Giga-bytes per month in 2009. As the number of mobile broadband users continues to climb, subscribers will increasingly look for low tariffs with unlimited, high-speed access and abundant mobile broadband service, while operators will need network capabilities that allow them to accommodate the expansion pressures of mobile broadband network and profitable operation mode.
"Huawei's mobile broadband solution addresses the challenges faced by operators, by simplifying the network structure and breaking down the barriers between different standards and technologies. Customers will experience first hand how LTE enhances the end-user experience by accommodating the expansion of network capacity and radically reducing the cost per bit. "We will demonstrate how the network environment can integrate with other technologies to illustrate speed and cost efficiency in migrating to future network standards," commented, Mr Zou Liangjun Huawei Vice President for Marketing and Strategy for the Middle East and North Africa region.
The Huawei demonstrations will showcase SDR enabled SingleRAN (Radio Access network) solutions, which efficiently migrates all existing mobile network technologies such as GSM, UMTS to LTE based on one platform. All of Huawei's wireless products have been developed based on the fourth-generation platform.
Huawei continues to invest in evolutionary telecommunications. LTE-Advanced, the next stage of LTE technology is currently being standardized by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). LTE-Advanced will include key features such as worldwide functionality and roaming, compatibility of services, interoperability with other radio access systems and enhanced peak data rates to support advanced services and applications. At the 2010 Mobile World Congress, Huawei demonstrated data download speeds of up to 600Mb/s (at 40 Mhz) using its latest LTE-Advanced system. The record speeds, which are 20 times faster than existing commercial 3G networks, is expected to revolutionize user experience by meeting bandwidth requirements of data heavy applications, such as being able to download a 4GB DVD movie in less than one minute.
To date, Huawei has deployed 60 LTE networks including lab trial, field trial and commercial networks with more than 3,300 LTE/SAE contributions to 3GPP serving the world's top carriers including Telenor, and other leading operators in the Middle East and North Africa.
Huawei is currently participating in the Mobile Broadband Global Summit in Dubai where leading telecommunications industry professionals are gathered to present on and discuss the growing importance of mobile broadband technology in 2010 for the region.
