Company highlights change in recruitment dynamics and the effects on business in the Kingdom
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, May 3, 2011: Hiring Solutions Company, the region's only comprehensive provider of recruitment management systems which are designed to improve corporate recruitment performance, has run workshops in Riyadh and Al Khobar. The workshops were aimed at helping companies identify the key factors impacting successful recruitment and how to make better use of the Internet to source their candidates.
Guy Rickett, Managing Director at Hiring Solutions Company, said: "With recruitment having changed more in the last five years than it has in the last 50, thanks to the penetration of the Internet, recruitment teams are struggling to keep pace with the changing habits of job seekers, as corporate recruitment is not empowered and supported as a strategic part of business in this region."
Rickett highlighted that in order for companies in the Kingdom to get serious about the quality of hires they were attracting, they would have to start selling career opportunities and maximising their reach to candidates across the Kingdom, not just those available across the regions. With 9.8 million users in Saudi Arabia, accounting for 38 percent penetration according to Internet World Stats, the Internet is the most important communication tool for recruitment.
"When looking at popular terms on search engines, it is quite easy to see what Saudi residents are interested in when one of the leading categories is jobs, with more than double the searches of the next nearest category which is cars, followed by travel, football and shopping. The influence of the Internet has had a profound effect on Saudi job seekers, and corporate recruitment needs to harness this resource to ensure that they are able to reach the talent available in the market and beyond."
The workshops welcomed companies representing national and multinational interests, as well as ministerial and NGO bodies looking for insight in to recruitment and how to better tap the global talent pool.
Rickett also outlined the importance of developing online career portals, that combined with smart technology would provide companies with a central location through which applicants could learn about and apply for opportunities.
"Recruiters in the Kingdom face a number of issues and need the support of C-level executives to ensure they aren't encumbered with outdated manual methods of recruitment which slow the process and are contributing to lost opportunities. Additionally, the pressure on recruiters to support Saudisation efforts are hampered, because they can't provide clear information on the company's efforts to meet government legislation."
"Implementation of recruitment management or applicant tracking systems would go a long way to helping recruiters provide quicker corporate recruitment that would save companies colossal amounts of money, provide quick, transparent reports on their success and areas of concern."
In March of this year 101,000,000 searches for jobs were conducted around the world, accounting for approximately 1.2 billion searches a year, or 1/5 of the world's population looking for new options each year.
"This region holds a wealth of opportunity for knowledge transfer, and being on the global job seekers radar will help build Saudi business enterprises reputation in the global marketplace," concluded Rickett.
