For the first time in the Qatar, Hill International provides FIDIC Contracts and Agreements workshops
Doha, Qatar, 12 February 2014 - Hill International and BCA Training (Pty) Ltd, a leader in FIDIC (The International Federation of Consulting Engineers) conditions of contract, will offer training workshops in Muscat, Oman from the 12th of February to the 13th of February 2014 as a part of an intensive international training tour that cover the GCC and Turkey. The two day workshop provides comprehensive insight into the contracts in the FIDIC family. Delegates will gain insight into their rights and duties under these contracts, as well as an understanding of how these rights and duties operate in practice.
The sessions will be conducted by Kevin Spence, the internationally acclaimed FIDIC specialist and Accredited Trainer. They will take place in Doha on 16-17 February 2014, at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Kevin Spence stated: "Attendees will leave the workshops with an understanding of what FIDIC contracts are and what their purpose is in the ME market, an overview of FIDIC contracts, what rights they are entitled to under these contracts, the ability to manage any claims that arise under FIDIC contracts and how to avoid such issues, as well as how to develop the tools to deal with these uncertainties. "
Mr. Spence is a fellow of the Association of Arbitrators, a registered Professional Engineer, a fellow of the Institute of Quarrying and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. During the two day workshop, Mr. Spence will focus on recent developments in the construction industry within the region, the general developments of contracts as well as an in-depth analysis of FIDIC contracts and their implications.
At a time of intense competition, these workshops will allow attendees to gain an insight to the impact of FIDIC contracts in relation to legal developments affecting projects within an engaging and interactive setting. Through practical approaches, such as case studies, participants will be able to learn from new and old FIDIC contracts and the influence they have on construction projects. The workshop will focus on contractual processes from pre-tender stages up until take over, understanding what documentations are required throughout the contracting phase in addition to developing an in-depth understanding of the entire process behind FIDIC contracting.
Participants develop the tools and abilities to evaluate the risk allocation of their FIDIC contracts and what their rights and obligations are as an employer, contractor or engineer, in addition to acquiring the skills needed to deal with, defend and avoid future disputes.
