Ajman: Prior to its attendance at “Satte 2023” exhibition which is held in New Delhi - India between 9 and 11 February,  the Ajman Department of Tourism Development organized a networking evening for representatives of travel and tourism agencies, MICE companies, and a group of media professionals in India to promote the tourism and entertainment capacities, new projects, and potential investment opportunities in the emirate, ad well as enhancing the position of the Indian market among the main feeder markets.

This event was followed by the visit of a delegation from the Ajman Department of Tourism Development to “Satte 2023” exhibition which offers a comprehensive platform for local and international professionals, investors, and decision makers from the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors to conduct business, share knowledge, exchange ideas related to the tourism sector in India and South Asia.

The department aimed from its visit to meet with other participating agencies and explore new opportunities, build foreign partnerships, exchange additional offers and knowledge through strong collaborations, and offer unique promotional packages to entice tourists from the Indian market. Over the course of three days, the department’s delegation held a series of meetings with representatives of the tourism sector, travel agents, tour operators, and airline companies to discuss the tourism developments in the emirate of Ajman.

This visit also entailed individual meetings and detailed presentations offered by the delegation, and focused on the current and future opportunities that are suitable for business ventures, investment, and even entertainment. The meetings were well-received by potential partners who are looking to establish new collaborations with stakeholders in Ajman.

The department’s presence in India comes as part of the department’s long-term strategy to promote Ajman’s promising tourism capacity by conducting direct business and partnerships with foreign stakeholders, and shed light on the new projects and destinations in Ajman that offer an exceptional experience for Indian tourists from all age groups and interests.

As per the department’s yearly report, the number of international Indian tourists arrivals has increased by 15% in 2022 compared to the previous year, making it the 2nd largest among international markets that export tourists to Ajman. Despite the political and economic challenges that the world had witnessed during 2022, the tourism sector in Ajman managed to record a remarkable growth during this period where the hospitality sector witnessed a 9% overall revenue growth, a 26% increase in the number of international visitors, as well as a 14% increase in the average room rates in comparison with year 2021. And according to the STR report, Ajman ranked first in the UAE in terms of hotel occupancy with an average of 80%, at a lead of 7% to closest competition.

His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, stated that: “India has always been a primary and important market for Ajman. For that, we were keen to reach out for and attract new tourists from this country. Extended visits and meetings constitute a great opportunity for us to connect with a big number of investors and businessmen.”

“Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, a number of touristic projects were recently launched across several key destinations in Ajman to enrich the tourists with a unique experience, support all vital sectors in the emirate, and promote its leading position on the world tourism map.”

Alhashmi confirmed that Ajman managed to establish strong ties with the Indian market due to the diverse tourism services it offers to the Indian visitors, and the department continues to fully support and develop its tourism sector to perfectly welcome the growing number of tourists visiting from this prominent market. The participation in international exhibitions and forums plays an important role in promoting the distinguished events and activities hosted in Ajman.
