The Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA) has launched an interactive platform for the public and business institutions, to raise awareness of asset management in buildings, In order to improve the concepts of quality of life and sustainability in the UAE society.
The platform presents the most important specifications and technical regulations related to the construction sector and buildings through the classification of assets and buildings in two phases. Eng. Essa Al Hashemi, Director of conformity affairs, said.
The first phase is relates to the buildings under construction and includes the technical specifications, whether at the level of building materials, storage and use of materials, and the standards to be implemented during the construction phase, ensuring the labors safety & personal protective equipment on the site. He added.
The second one, includes the awareness of individuals and institutions, about the management of assets and buildings after construction, through comprehensive information related to the provision of appropriate environment, which corresponds to the legislative and legal requirements and technical standards and directions of the government strategy for the sustainability of buildings.
As well as measuring and reviewing building performance indicators that contribute to the development of plans to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the building, reduce risks, and focus on the life cycle of the building in general. He said.
ESMA has launched the design of the interactive platform, in Arabic & English, to ensure that all necessary standards & regulations are clearly identified, allowing the public to identify materials, tools, equipment needed for a period before construction, then in the construction phase, and finally the post-construction and sustainability considerations.
The list of options in the "interactive platform" includes an explanation of more than 12 UAE technical regulations and issued by "ESMA", which contains data for Emirati systems in renewable energy products, water fixtures, Escalators & travellators, lighting products, paints and varnishes, LPG cylinders, cables and wires, trailers and semi-trailers, personal protective equipment and safety and occupational health equipment for employment in the sector.
It allows the audience of visitors at the “Big 5 exhibition” to be able to identify UAE technical regulations that help the business sector and enhance the quality concepts in the UAE community by looking at the registration of products and systems in the specifications. Al Hashemi added.
