Dubai: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, announced that it has been re-certified for four consecutive times for three ISO standards. The company gets ISO re-certifications for the Quality managements systems (ISO 9001:2015), the Environmental management systems (ISO 14001:2015), and for the Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001:2007). This adds to the company’s long list of achievements and highlights Empower’s commitment to adopt the best practices, standards and management systems for quality, environment, occupational health and safety, and to make its 100,000 customers happy and satisfied by providing the best district cooling services.
Empower achieved this re-certification by successfully completing the integrated management systems audit, conducted by Bureau Veritas. The certification body has audited Empower’s Integrated Management system, district cooling plants, new project sites, customer service centres as well as all critical processes, in order to verify its compliance with international standards.
“Empower is committed to providing the best quality services that satisfy customer needs. We work according to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to adopt the best government practices and achieve leadership in all fields, to make the UAE’s government work a global reference. This supports the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021, to make the Government of Dubai a pioneering and excellent government that is proactive and creative in meeting the needs of individuals and society as a whole,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
“Our success in the re-certification of ISO is a confirmation of the sustainability of our work, and the continued development of our organisation. It confirms our strong performance indicators which were reflected in the integrated administrative systems audit. Moreover, it stresses our commitment to international standards. The re-certification for the Quality management systems (ISO 9001:2015), accredited by the UKAS Management System, is the result of the continuous improvement in the efficiency of our quality management system to ensure providing comprehensive quality services to customers and promoting their happiness,” added Bin Shafar.
As for the re-certification for the Environmental management systems (ISO 14001:2015), Bin Shafar stressed that Empower continues its efforts to preserve the environment, according the international standards adopted in this regard. This is based on its social and economic responsibility to protect natural resources and preserve them for future generations and constantly developing its services in an environmentally-friendly manner.
“We have succeeded in achieving the integration of management systems in all our services and operational processes, taking into consideration the control and reduction of occupational health and safety hazards, through the efforts of Empower’s staff and promoting R&D and innovation. This allowed us to achieve the re-certification of OHSAS 18001:2007 due to adopting the best practices in occupational health and safety in our projects and cooling plants. We have become pioneers in the district cooling industry around the world by combining business sustainability, protecting the environment, and focusing on safety,” concluded Bin Shafar.
