Two Prizes Weekly, Mitsubishi cars and prizes from Paris Gallery, Dream Apartment
Dubai’s shopping malls are witnessing a huge increase in visitor traffic as the seventh round of Dubai Summer Surprises began last Thursday.
The various activities and events hosted by the Government Departments for Dubai Summer Surprises have added to the attraction of visiting the shopping mall. Moreover, the Dubai Shopping Malls Group promotion for ‘Win a Dream’ has convinced the visitors to shop in order to get raffle coupons to participate in the attractive weekly promotion.
Eisa Adam Ibrahim, President of Dubai Shopping Malls Group said, “The DSMG’s DSS promotion is one of the biggest shopping promotions launched during the year. We have been able to attract many visitors this year, with this promotion that gives them a chance to win a very luxurious apartment as an incentive to shop.
The Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG), one of the key sponsors of DSS 2004, has also started receiving visitors, especially for the wide range of unique activities on offer, at the various malls in the Emirate. The Group has also unveiled more attractive and bigger promotion – ‘Win A Dream’ at 21 participating malls -- offering shoppers the chance to win prizes up to Dh2 million including a dream home at the world-class Jumeirah Beach Residence plus a total of 10 Mitsubishi Pajeros.
In a break from the past, the Group has introduced a new format that features two draws a week instead of the once-a-week draw that was held in previous years. DSS shoppers spending Dh200 at any of the participating mall will be entitled to a coupon that will be entered into the two weekly draws – the first weekly draw will offer a Mitsubishi Pajero while the winner of the second draw will receive a gift hamper from Paris Gallery worth Dh10,000. Moreover, MasterCard card holders are being given the opportunity to double their chances of winning the prizes on offer.
The same coupon will be entered at the grand draw for a “dream prize” package consisting of a luxurious apartment at Jumeirah Beach Residence plus a Mitsubishi Pajero and a watch from an international brand worth Dh70,000, courtesy Paris Gallery.

July being one of the main vacation months, more tourists from the GCC countries are expected to visit our mall, thereby leading to an increase in footfall and sales.”
Mr. Murhaf Kishi, General Manager, Hamarain Centre said, “The Hamarain Centre is hosting a series of activities during the DSS period, which attracts a lot of visitors. The centre has received an excellent response from visitors in the past few days since DSS started. The percentage of visitors has increased by 50% compared to the week prior to the start of DSS, and sales have increased by 30% in the same period.”
Centre has been specially decorated for the event. A big statuette of Modhesh welcomes the visitors and three stages host the events of DSS. Additionally, Hamarain also hosts a daily television show ‘Summer and Surprises’ which is aired daily by Dubai Business Channel. The show gives away valuable prizes to DSS visitors in the Centre.
Rebecca Arnold, Marketing Manager, Mercato Mall said, The DSMG “Win a Dream” promotion has created a great amount of interest thereby stimulating Footfall and Sales figures. The fabulous prize offerings this year and the addition of a second weekly draw has further fuelled consumer drive.
“Stores have been reporting positive response with respect to sales and this is also due to the fact that there are many promotional offers and discounts available at Mercato.
“We anticipate that the general sales figure will continue to increase over the entire DSS period due to the fact that there are many tourists visiting Dubai to take part in shopping sprees during the DSS period. Furthermore, our tenants will continue to hold sales throughout the DSS period
“Every week throughout the DSS period families will be able to enjoy exciting events each week. Furthermore, every time customers’ present accumulated receipts to a value of 200.00 AED to the customer service desk, when they received their DSS coupon they will also be able to receive a Mercato raffle coupon that can be placed into the Mercato barrel for the weekly raffle. The prize for the Mercato raffle is a gift hamper of Mercato’s shopping vouchers to a minimum value of Dhs 4000.”
